Adding Long / Lat XY Data to QGIS

1.  Plugins ->> Manage Plugins menu
make sure the ADD DELIMITED TEXT plugin is checked, and click OK

add plugin

2. click add delimited text layer

3. browse file .text, .csv, .xls …

ok

4. select projection

ok

6. save text file to ESRI Shapefile by right click layer (DSHA) -> save as
